Samoan Language Week

This week was Samoan Language Week

Our Satellite classes, Room 10 and 11 at Sylvia Park School have been participating in Samoan Language Week activities with the Sylvia Park School mainstream students.

On Friday a special Samoan themed assembly was planned and children were invited to wear mufti to school with all donations going to another school in Samoa.

Tonja and Kyi Kyaw, 2 of our students, were invited to dance with the Samoan group at the Friday assembly, where local MP and Minister of Pacific Island Affairs - Peseta Sam Lotu-Iiga was in attendance.

Photos from the day and a video of Tonja dancing can be seen below.

We are very proud of our girls and send a big THANK YOU to Whaea Maxx and Whaea Van at Sylvia Park School for involving the girls. Also thanks to Tonja's teacher, Raj for allowing Tonja to return to Sylvia Park School for this special occasion.

Easter Fun at Glendowie

We had a Easter class party at titan's house.  We had a 'hopping' good time hunting for eggs, playing pass the parcel, hitting the pinata and best of all having a hug with the Easter bunny!
A big thank-you to all the parents who organised such a great day!

Oliver St Kent's Middle School Production by Community Education Program

On Wednesday the 14th of May we were lucky to be invited to watch Oliver at St Kent's. It was a great trip out and for some the first time going to watch a show that was 2 hours long. There was great dancing and singing and we had a great time there. We would like to thank all the students who come out every Thursday to spend time with us and also for the invitation to Oliver.

Singing with Steve and Beetroot cupcakes! By Room 11 @ Sylvia Park Sattellite

Today we had our very first singing session with Steve. It was lots of fun.  We sang along and even got to Twist and Shout!

It is going to be a great term with Steve coming in weekly to sing with us!

The video below shows a few snippets from the session!

After singing we picked some beetroot from our class garden.  We then made chocolate beetroot cupcakes!
We were impressed at how the cupcakes tasted.  Michelle loved the fact that we all ate a new vegetable happily!

The beetroot.

Reggie and Kyi Kyaw took a beetroot cupcake to Whaea Barb.

Cheering the Breakers by Vikki @ Edgewater 3

We went to see the Breakers and I was excited to see them because they are strong and good at playing basketball. At first I was sitting down and watching the Breakers and I was laughing because the Breakers said to stand up and cheer.

The Breakers chose some students to play basketball with them and won the game.

After the game they gave us a magazine. We went to them to ask to sign their names.

I was listening to the Breakers. They said we must watch the students playing before we get a chance. I did not look well enough so I had to ask Brennan. We started to laugh when Allan said that the Breakers missed the basket. I was asking Kevin what to do and he told me to just keep watching the Breakers.

When it was finished Mr B took us home and I thanked him. I went into my house and said hello to my parents and told them all about the exciting game.
